What is...
a sports bra?

In the world of fuller bust bras, there’s one category that’s most important for our fitness gurus – sports bras! D+ cup sports bras are in a league of their own, so we’ll dive into what a fuller bust sports bra is, and how a specialist sports bra for bigger boobs is different to regular sports bras.

What is a sports bra?

A sports bra is exactly what is sounds like – a bra that is worn for sports. They’re generally made from specialised fabrics that wick away moisture to keep you cool and comfortable, while ensuring they keep their shape. Sports bras for D+ cup sizes are sturdier than traditional bras, and are designed to reduce movement as much as possible.

What does a sports bra do?

Sports bras for bigger boobs are a very technically designed garment, as they have to give so much more support to keep our chests in place throughout high impact activities! They need to be able to reduce bounce and movement of our D+ cup sizes, while being comfortable to wear.

There are two main types of sports bras – encapsulation sports bras which have separate cups to securely hold each breast in place, and compression sports bras which use firm fabrics to hold your boobs securely against your chest. Both have their pros and cons, and we go over this in a bit more detail here in our sports bra buying guide.

DD+ cup sports bras are designed with added features to make them more supportive and comfortable for those of us with bigger chests, including cushioned straps and J-hooks to be able to convert them into racerback shapes for even more hold and support. They often also offer more coverage and fasten with bra-like hook and eyes so they’re easier to get on and off – nobody likes pulling a sweaty sports bra over their head at the end of a workout!

★★★★★

"This bra is amazing. I dislike underwire bras because I have a large bust with small waist, and this bras is very comfortable while still having a ton of support. I can do any sort of workout and not worry. "

Who can wear a sports bra?

Anyone with breasts who wants to do sports – from low impact walking and yoga to high impact horse riding and running – should be wearing a sports bra. It’s said that breasts can move 3 inches or more in all directions during exercise, so it’s very important to invest in a quality sports bra to keep your breasts secure and comfortable!

What are the benefits of a sports bra?

It’s pretty self-explanatory what the benefits of a sports bra are, but just to recap:

  • They reduce bounce and discomfort while working out
  • There are lots of different D+ sports bras around to suit many body and breast shapes
