Are you quite often frustrated by the wires popping out of your bras? There is nothing worse than going to put your favourite bra on, only to find that the wire has wriggled its self out of place, it makes us feel like this...

The main reason for your wires popping out, is wearing a band size that is too big for you. Yep, that's right, too big! The back band should be firm on your body, mainly for the support, and also so it doesn't move around on your body. If you wear a size too big then as you move, your bra is wriggling around all over the place too. This causes the underwire to rub against its casing and eventually making its way through the fabric and out into the open, leaving you devastated. So, not only is it important to wear the right size for support, but also for the longevity of your beloved bras.

Wires Popping Out? Here's a Few Reasons Why.

The next reason that allows your underwires to escape your bras is improper laundering. As my Nan says, you should always hand wash your bras, this allows them to be as delicately washed as possible. However, sometimes we don't always have the time for this (sorry Nan!) and in this instance a wash bag is a must have! Throwing your bra into the washing machine with the rest of your clothes will get given the same treatment that a chocolate bar would receive when thrown into a group of recovering chocoholics - it will get torn apart. This strain will not only misshape your wires but will push them around, inside their casing, so much that they are bound to eventually, poke through. Finally, under no circumstances, ever, should you put your bras into the dryer (Nan nearly had a heart attack when I suggested this), the heat will shrink your bras but the metal wire will stay the same size. See where I'm going with this? Fabric explosion!

I actually have an entire blog piece related to bra washing, all with the help of my Nan, of course. You can read it here!

The third and final reason, in very rare cases, could simply be down to a manufacturing fault. Maybe the material has been sewn too tightly, or the wire has been cut too long? Either way it doesn't always mean that every bra from that range or brand is faulty, sometimes it really is a one off and no matter how well you have treated your bras, sometimes it just happens.

So next time you buy a new bra and if you feel like you have done everything right yet your wire is still escaping, don't hesitate to get back to us to help solve the problem!
